Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Waterford

The Ceremony

The ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM sharp at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity Within, located on Barronstrand Street in Waterford City. To ensure a smooth start, we recommend arriving by 1:30 PM to allow time for parking and settling in.

Getting to Waterford from Dublin

We recommend using public transport to get to Waterford where possible.

By Train:

Irish Rail operates regular services from Dublin Heuston Station to Plunkett Station in Waterford. The journey takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes. From the station, the Cathedral is a 10–15 minute walk or a short taxi ride.

By Bus:

Bus Éireann and other operators provide services from Dublin City to Waterford. The journey typically takes 2.5 to 3 hours. The bus station is close to the city centre, about a 10-minute walk to the Cathedral.

By Car:

From Dublin, it’s approximately a 2-hour drive to Waterford City via the M9 motorway. Follow signs for Waterford City Centre upon arrival.
Parking for the Cathedral is available at several public car parks nearby:
- City Square Shopping Centre Car Park (closest option).
- Clock Tower Car Park along the Quay.
- Bolton Street Car Park, a bit further but still walkable.

Heading to Waterford Castle

After the ceremony, we’ll proceed to Waterford Castle on Little Island for the reception.

Getting from the Cathedral to the Castle:

Driving: The Castle is approximately a 10-minute drive from the Cathedral. Follow directions towards Ballinakill Ferry Road, where you’ll find the ferry terminal for Little Island. Look for signs to Waterford Castle Ferry.
Taxis and Ridesharing Apps: Local taxis and apps like FreeNow or Uber are available for short trips to the ferry terminal and beyond.

Taking the Ferry:
Waterford Castle is only accessible by ferry, which is free to use and operates frequently.

Ferry Schedule:
- 7:00 AM – 12:00 Midnight: Runs every 15 minutes on the quarter hour.
- 12:00 Midnight – 7:00 AM: On demand – call the number posted at the ferry crossings.
- Crossing Time: About 4 minutes, depending on the tide.
